If you are interested in opening an online store or page for your company, creating a Facebook business page is an essential step in the process.

A Facebook business page allows you to run advertisements on Facebook and Instagram, build a brand, and reach hundreds of millions of users around the world. After reading this entire article, you will know how to create a new Facebook business page, from start to finish.

Let’s dive right in:

Step 1) Creating Page

Click here to start the process of creating your Facebook business page. Make sure your Facebook account is already logged in. This image below depicts the page you will see.

This is where you will create your new Facebook page.

You can also click “Pages” on the left-side of your Facebook home screen, and then click “+ Create New Page”.

Step 2) Naming Page

Enter in the name of your page. This should be the name of your store or company.

Next, type in what category of business you are making the page for. For example, if you have a clothing store, you would type in “Clothing” and choose “Clothing (brand)”.

After choosing the category, type in a short description of your company or store.

Your description should give a brief overview of your company values and history.

Also, let people know what kind products you are selling or services you are offering.

Lastly, click “Create Page” at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3) Importing Images

Now with your page created, it’s time to add in your logo and a cover photo. If you don’t have either image yet, you can skip this step and click “Save” at the bottom of your screen. You can always change or upload new images at any time.

If you do have a logo and cover image ready, simply upload them to their respective locations.

We recommend using a square image for your logo and a rectangular image for your cover photo.

Once the images are uploaded, click “Save” at the bottom of your screen. You will now be brought to the admin view of your new Facebook page!

Step 4) How to Create Facebook Page Username

The next step in the process is to create a username for your page.

Your page’s username will be the URL for your store.

For example, if your page’s username is VerumEcom, your page’s URL will be https://facebook.com/VerumEcom.

The username makes it easy for people to remember and locate your store page.

Click “Create @username” next to your profile picture and type in the name of your business.

Your Facebook page username can only contain alphanumeric characters (A-Z, 0-9) and periods (“.”). Spaces are not allowed.

Also, your username must be at least five characters long.

If the username is taken, you may need to be creative in finding an untaken one.

For instance, if you had an athletic store named “Venom Athletics” and the username “VenomAthletics” is taken, you could try “VenomAthleticsCo” or “ShopVenomAthletics”.

Step 5) How to Add a Button to Facebook page

After choosing your username, it’s time to create a button for your Facebook page.

Your page’s button allows users to conveniently perform whatever action you choose.

For example, if your Facebook business page is for an online store, you would make a “Shop Now” button.

Click “+ Add a Button” and choose the button that is most effective for your business. You will find a variety of options.

The most effective button depends on what business your Facebook page is for and what your goals are. Facebook gives you a large number of options to choose from.

Step 6) How to Edit Your Facebook Page’s Info

Next, it’s time to edit your page info so viewers can learn more about your business. Click “Complete Your Page” in the middle of your screen or “Edit Page Info” on the left-side of your screen.

Fill in all the information that you’d like your page viewers to see. This involves inputting your business’s contact information, location, etc.

Next, you can click “Settings” on the left-hand side of your screen and see if there are any adjustments you want to make.

Furthermore, you can start populating your feed with images or announcements.

Step 7) How to Create Posts on Your Facebook Business Page

Simply click “Create Post” on your page to create a post.

You have the ability to post images, videos, or just text.

The functionality is similar to how you’d make a post on your personal Facebook page.

Another function that Facebook offers is the ability to schedule posts.

This means that you can upload posts and then choose a time and date you want the post to go live.

This tool is incredibly useful for businesses who want to upload a lot of content to their Facebook page.

If this is you, a good idea for your workflow is to schedule all the posts you want uploaded at the beginning of the week.

This ensures that each post is uploaded at the exact time you want, and you won’t have to worry about logging in to post every day.

To do this, click “Publishing Tools” on the left-hand side of your screen.

Next, click on “Scheduled Posts” and then “Create Post”.

Now, create your post and once you’re done, click “Schedule Post” and choose which date and time you’d like the post to go live.

At this point, we’ve gone over the complete set-up of your new Facebook page and all the main functions Facebook has to offer.

However, take some time to browse the admin of your Facebook page to see everything it has to offer.

You can create events, invite your friends, look at insights, and much more.

The next step in the process relates to running advertisements and creating a Facebook Business Manager and Ad Account.

If you are interested in running advertisements for your page, continue reading to learn how to create the necessary accounts.

Step 8) How to Create Facebook Business Manager Account

There are two different tools that Facebook offers that allow you to run advertisements on your page.

They are the Facebook Business Manager and the Facebook Ad Centre.

You will see the “Ad Centre” on the left-hand side of your Facebook admin view.

However, you will need to go to https://business.facebook.com to access your Facebook Business Manager.

These two tools are completely separate of one another and offer different features.

We recommend all advertisers use the Facebook Business Manager instead of the Ads Centre.

You get many more features and customization options when using the Facebook Business Manager.

Although it’s more complex to learn, it’s well worth your time and money to understand how to use the business manager.

For this reason, we will only be teaching you how to use Facebook’s Business Manager.

In order to effectively run advertisements on your page, it’s imperative to create a Facebook Business Manager.

The business manager will allow you to create an ad account for your page. You can create several ad accounts inside of one business manager if you have multiple pages you’d like to run advertisements with.

With your ad account, you can properly create and adjust advertisements in Facebook’s Ad Manager.

Click here and click “Create Account”. Fill in all the proper information on the following prompts and finish creating your account.

You will now see your Facebook Business Manager home screen. From this point, click “Business Settings” on the left-hand side of your screen.

Before completing the setup, you need to create a new ad account for your Facebook business page and add your page to the business manager.

Click “Ad accounts” on the left-hand side of your screen, and then click “Add” and “Create a new ad account”.

Enter the name of your business, your timezone, and your currency. Choose “My business” on the next prompt if they ask you who the ad account will be used for. Your ad account should now be created.

Next, click “Pages” on the left-hand side of your screen and add your Facebook page. After your page is added, find “Payments” on the left-hand side of your screen and enter in the payment details you will be using to pay for advertisements.

At this point, your Facebook page will be completely ready to run ads using Facebook’s business manager.

Go back to your Facebook Business Manager home screen and find “Ads Manager”.

The ads manager is the tool you will be using to run and manage all of your Facebook ads

Step 9) How to use the Facebook Ads Manager

You may feel overwhelmed after seeing the Ads Manager dashboard.

It may seem complex, but we will break it down for you step by step so you fully understand each function.

The three sections that make up the Ads Manager are the “Campaigns”, “Ad sets”, and “Ads”.

These three sections work together to make up the entire advertisement in a funnel-like system.

You set up the campaign first, then ad sets, and then the ads.

Each campaign will have its own ad sets and each ad set will have its own ads.

Let’s go over each section in detail:

What is a Facebook Ad Campaign

A Facebook Ad Campaign is the overarching goal of your advertisement.

Based on what results you’d like, you can choose what your campaign objective is.

For example, if your Facebook page is for an online store, we recommend you choose “Conversions” as your campaign objective.

This means that your Facebook ads will automatically optimize to find people who are likely to purchase items from your store.

You have the ability to create and test as many campaigns as you’d like. Furthermore, you can edit or duplicate campaigns.

You also have the option of entering a campaign spending limit.

If you choose to enter a limit, your ads will completely stop running once you’ve spent the limit.

The campaign is mainly just choosing the goal of your advertisement.

The Facebook algorithm will automatically use its machine learning and optimize to show your ads to the best candidates based on the objective.

The Ad Sets and Ads are where you will actually set up the advertisement.

What is a Facebook Ad Set

After creating your campaign, the next step is to create your ad sets.

Simply explained, ad sets are the settings that decide who sees your ads and when your ads run.

You can narrow down your audience/potential reach and target people who are more likely to interact with your page.

The potential reach is an estimation from Facebook of how many people are eligible to see your ad.

You can choose countries, genders, ages, languages, as well as detailed targeting.

Detailed targeting is where you can input specific interests, demographics, and behaviors.

For example, if your Facebook page is for a store selling fitness products. You can specify “Athletes”, “Nike”, and “Adidas” in the detailed targeting section.

The detailed targeting feature makes it extremely easy to target users who could potentially be interested in your Facebook page.

Furthermore, you can choose what time you want your ads to start and how much money they spend daily. Facebook ads run on a 24-hour cycle and will optimize to spend your budget throughout the day.

We recommend advertisers to create several ad sets each targeting a different interest or demographic. Having multiple ad sets makes it easy to see which audience is optimal when looking at the results of your ads.

What are Facebook Ads

Creating the Facebook ad is the last step of the advertisement process. After setting up your ad set, you can click on “Ads” and “Create Ad”.

The ad is where you will upload and create the advertisement that you want users to see. The advertisement you create will be displayed to the audience that you chose for your ad set.

In the ads menu, you can import your image/video and write all the text that accompanies the creative. It’s imperative to create a well-made and engaging advertisement. You can use the preview tool to see how your advertisement currently looks.

Once you’ve finished setting up your ad, you can click “Review and publish” on the top-right corner of your screen to publish the ads.

Facebook will take some time reviewing the ad to see if it complies with their policies before officially going live. You will be notified as soon as the review process is complete and the advertisements go live.

Once the ads start running, you can use Ad Sets to view the important metrics and results.
